BRADFORD, UK — Imran Hussain, the Member of Parliament for Bradford East and Chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir, has issued an urgent plea to the international community and the governments of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir following a sharp rise in regional instability.

Speaking on behalf of a deeply concerned community, Hussain highlighted that hundreds of his constituents have reached out to express severe anxiety over the rapidly deteriorating situation.

Parliamentary Mobilization and Diplomatic Action

In response to the growing crisis, Hussain has mobilized significant legislative support within the UK Parliament. Acting in his capacity as Chair of the APPG on Kashmir, he has formally written to the Foreign Secretary to demand immediate diplomatic engagement. The initiative has already garnered the backing of over 50 parliamentarians.

Hussain announced that, on the strength of this collective parliamentary action, an urgent meeting is being requested with Foreign Office ministers. The objective of the meeting is to directly relay the pressing concerns of the British Kashmiri diaspora and push for a active UK diplomatic response.

In addition to the ministerial appeal, Hussain has tabled an Early Day Motion (EDM) in the House of Commons, which continues to draw widespread, cross-party support from across the House.

A Plea for De-escalation and Human Rights

Addressing the leadership in the region directly, Hussain issued a stern message and plea to the governments of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, with a specific call to action directed at the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Hussain outlined three critical steps that must be taken immediately to prevent further harm to civilians and restore order:

  1. Lift the Lockdown: Immediate cessation of arbitrary restrictions and lockdowns affecting the daily lives of citizens.
  2. Restore Communications: The swift and complete restoration of all communication networks to ensure transparency and allow families to connect.
  3. Resume Peaceful Dialogue: An immediate return to peaceful table talks and constructive negotiations.

“We must lift the lockdown immediately, restore full communications immediately, and resume peaceful table talks and negotiations immediately,” Hussain urged, emphasizing that any long-term resolution must be rooted in fundamental liberties. “At the heart of which must be respect for Kashmiri human rights.”

As parliamentary pressure mounts in the UK, Hussain and his colleagues remain committed to ensuring that the voices of their constituents are heard at the highest levels of government, advocating for peace, communication, and the protection of human rights in Azad Kashmir.
