Last week, famous cricketer Shahid Afridi addressed a press conference alongside Kashmir Supreme League (KSL) Chairman Masood Khan at a local hotel in Gilgit, marking the commencement of the Kashmir Super League (KSL) trial matches in Gilgit-Baltistan. The launch event highlighted the league’s aim to promote young cricket talent from the region, with Shahid Afridi expressing strong support for the initiative.

Building on that momentum, today a major step was taken towards realizing the dream of showcasing the youth talent of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. In a festive and enthusiastic ceremony held at Ayub National Park, Rawalpindi, trials under KSL officially began. The event was graced by KSL’s Patron-in-Chief and former Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan, as a special guest.

The ceremony saw a large turnout, including prominent personalities, political figures, media representatives, and a significant number of young aspiring players. Speaking at the occasion, Sardar Tanveer Ilyas Khan strongly criticized the current Kashmir government, calling their behavior towards the KSL “childish, stupid, and incomprehensible.” He stated that while some forces were actively working against the platform, they would not back down.

He praised the support from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and national security agencies, contrasting it with the lack of backing from the Azad Kashmir government. Sardar Tanveer also criticized the recent statements by the Minister of Sports Azad Kashmir, calling them “irresponsible and ridiculous,” and reaffirmed that KSL’s mission is to offer a positive, constructive, and national mainstream platform to the youth of Azad Kashmir.

Together, the activities in Gilgit-Baltistan and Rawalpindi mark a strong beginning for the KSL, igniting hope and excitement among the young cricketers of the region.
